I've had my Aspire One for nearly a year now. I have the standard 3 - cell battery. It seems to last a bit over an hour now, typing and music composition (MIDI synth playback only) Is this normal?

Can I reset/recondition my battery life somehow or am I best ditching the battery in favour of a 6 cell?

You can try recalibrate battery. Personally I would replace it with new one as battery is not going to last forever. It's one of the consumables so you can not expect miracles...

my battery has been over a year now, and it has an astonishing 18% wear level :O
and the battery still surprisingly lasts around 5-5 1/2 hours.

Have you tried calibration?? Sometimes makes miracles if battery is still OK. 18% wear level is not bad...

"Calibration" is to reset the relation between between the battery and the onscreen gauge - it doesn't rejuvenate the battery.

The one year experience report is a good idea, since a lot of users with 3 cells will be interested in how well the Acer and aftermarket 6 cells, etc. perform over time. (My 3 cell just under a year old is getting about 1.75 hours, but it sits in a drawer most of the time since I use AC around the house.) My personal experience with aftermarket eBay substitutes for Dell laptop batteries has not been good after a few months, so I'm inclined to replace with an OEM Acer 6 cell.

lol, yup, I've recalibrated my batteries (2 of em)
    1 year old 6 cell battery = 18% wear
    8 months old 6 cell battery = 7% wear
not too bad I'd say ;D

My A110 is over a year old now.... Tested this morning, still gets 2:15hrs from 100% to fully drain in Win XP SP3. I say that's still ok after a year. :)

    Hello Fellow Aspire One Users

After 8.5 months my XP SP3 AOA110 8GB SSD shows 19% wear when I checked with Battery Bar software. This shows the same data I was accustomed to when using Ubuntu Netbook Remix (Jaunty). 1:45 min approx.

I get about the same battery life using XP and Ubuntu.

    Original 3 cell battery.
