I have installed 10.5.7 following this guide http://www.aspireoneuser.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=14&t=10197 first from 10.5.5 iAtkos v5, then to 10.5.6, and finally 10.5.7 but I kept vanilla kernel, is it recommended to use Voodoo? should I change to it? which are the differences and how can I change?

Voodoo supports hyperthreading so the Atom processor is seeing as two processors and you can use your processor resources better, because it can do some level of parallelism (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hyper-threading).
On the other hand, the Voodoo kernel is not made by Apple and is still work in progress and bit crashy.
I use Voodoo, but I have, for example, a memory stick that if I insert in my AAO it crashes the Voodoo kernel and I have to power off.
If you are happy running vanilla kernel (stock Apple osx kernel) you should keep it.

Ive seen that for fixing sound problems en 10.5.7 they use files like VoodoHDA.kext, does it's name including "voodo" and not AppleHDA means that it needs voodo kernel?

In fact the name Voodoo is being abused and most (or all) of these kernel extensions are not really made by the Voodoo team (http://code.google.com/p/xnu-dev/).
It might be that some of these so-called Voodoo kernel extension only work with Voodoo kernel, but you cannot be certain for sure until you try them.
The best is to save your current kernel extensions, using OSX86Tools, for example. If one of these kernel extensions doesn't work or crashes your system, you just have to either delete the new kernel extension you've installed or bring back the one you've saved.
