10.5.7 just released... I assume it is not safe to software update?

what drivers did you use? I just tried this with the intel GMA950 Kext and now I can't get passed the MacOS loading screen with a spinning beach ball :-(

    PROBLEMS...
I updated my 2nd ("non-production"/testing) AOA ZG5 today and found it booting to the white Apple boot screen for about 3/4 of a second and then rebooting to Acer BIOS...

I tried with -x -v (safe mode, verbose) and got to the point where it normally switches to a higher rez and again it rebooted to the Acer BIOS.

    -f did nothing different...

This was a one week old install from iDeben 1.4 disc and the 10.5.7 combo update was around 500MB.
(my MacBookPro both at work and at home were 286MB delta updates)
I'm not sure if this file size discrepancy (delta/combo) has anything to do with the problems, but I'll be reinstalling soon and hoping the community figures it out...because I'm lost on this one and 'nuke and pave' sounds good at this point...

I had the same issuses as chudgoo. It killed my A110. After rebooting it would do the same and get to the Apple logo and restart everything single time. I had to reinstall iDeneb twice.

DO NOT install this via software update if you run anything else than vanilla kernel. If you run patched kernel with not proper settings it will kill your hackmac for sure.

For the record, I never expected the update to work...

It was a fairly fresh install with zero customization that I knew I wouldn't mind losing.

reboot after 1 second is usually where kernel reports more cpus than it cn handle, ie 2 in our case

    Rory,

I tried it just now and had the same result.
I'd love to play around with it more, but I have to get this rebuilt and in the mail so I'll be reinstalling from iDeben 1.4.

Same thing here! It constantly reboots the computer no matter what options you set.
I tried updating from iDeneb 1.4 and from iPC 10.5.6 ppf5 and same thing.
I think It has to be something with the kernel being voodoo instead of vainlla.
I've read something about Realtek1000.kext being the problem. But I've removed it and updated and same thing.

Another "failure" with 10.5.7. Rebooted twice, then made it to the desktop, but at 800x600. Reinstalling kexts don't help. Running voodoo kernel, updated through Software Update. Thankfully I have a Time Machince backup from right before the update ran, but I might give iPC a shot this time. Also, I seem to have lost my desktop background, odd.

Apparently according to Macworld, a few folks have had problems installing the update even on Macs. There is a comment/complaint that perhaps Apple have not thouroughly tested the new update before making it public. I was offered the update on myi Mac this morning and refused it until the problems even for Mac users have been sorted out.
The usual adage applies, 'if it aint broke, don't try to fix it!'
