Read all the threads under the wifi section & there are numerous reports of wifi not functioning under various different conditions.

I see alot of issues for WiFi with modded systems. Vista, OSX, etc. But for stock Linpus and XP Home things are pretty stable. Not seeing anything systemic wrong with the current WiFi hardware....

    Thanks,

Then you really haven't been paying attention. the wifi problems have been EXTREMELY widespread and very well-documented. I hope and pray that the atheros is LONG gone from this new model. I replaced it in mine with a intel 4965agn which is actually capable of maintaining a connection for days, not minutes, only downside to it is slightly (about 30 mins less) battery life.

can anybody out there help me restore my wifi connection?
After i changed the OS of my aspireone, the wifi connection is lost.

and the audio is also lost?

can anybody out there help me restore them, or point me to a free dowloadable site for the driver.

    thanks

Sorry but allow the vent holes to stay open and upgrade the drivers and I haven't seen any real cases of problems with XP computers.

Not sure about other systems but this computer hasn't gotten real trendy around here and they all work fine. In fact they have very good sensitivity.

What isn't well documented is you have to be very careful in keeping the bottom of the PC clear. It can't be used on a lap or any other surface where the air holes are even partially blocked. In my estimation that is the number one issue after updating the driver.

Some of my failures could have been temperature related, but I am careful to operate the Acer on a hard surface to permit airflow.

When operating on holiday in SE Asia, it would sometimes drop out after operating for a period of time & be fine when I switched it off & got back 2 hours later.
Other people could verify the respective networks were still functioning.

Unfortunately I didn't discover this until getting past the stage where the retailer offers a full refund.

The sole purpose of buying the product was to get a reliable internet connection when travelling, so it's very inconvenient.

Did you upgrade the driver or turn off the power save function?

I got my 10" today and I have not had any wifi issues so far. I of course turned the power saving items off in the settings, but ive been all over my house and its consistently shown a 54mbs connection to the router. I havent had any issues with speed or dropped connections.

so you are saying that you don't see anything wrong with hardware in a LAPtop that doesn't allow you to use the computer in your LAP? sorry I'm not convinced. the wifi card is nowhere near the fan output, and the intake grate on the front would be difficult to block at all because it isn't really on the bottom of the computer.

I'm pretty sure it's not my mission to convince anybody. Just my experience with my own and roughly 8 to 10 owners in the nighborhood. We added WiFi to the clubhouse and the pool ara. Since then the Acer One became the weapon of choice for several new WiFi users. All work well after the update and avoidance of vent problems. Just don't want people to miss such a great little computer. But last I checked it's not mandatory to buy one.

There is no such thing as a "laptop". Have you ever seen a "laptop" on a manuf site? AFAIK, they are all called "Notebooks", in reference to the design. "Laptop" is a street slang, nothing more. Overheating NOTEBOOK computers by using them directly on your lap is not specific to the One. Fact is, that is not how notebooks were designed to be used. They were designed to be portable, and used on a flat, hard surface. Most laptops have their inlets on the bottom. What do you think happens if you run one on a soft surface? Blocked inlet + body heat = quickly overheated. EOS...

I have turned off the power save, but not upgraded the driver. Mine is a Linpus machine. There are many reports of people doing OK with new XP drivers, but haven't noticed any with Linux systems.
