Ive been reading posts and cant find a conclusive answer to the question of whether or not the AAO with windoze allows for easy 1024x768 resolution switching out of the box. I dont mind scrolling - and dont particularly want compression- but have to have 1024x768 for work apps. As Ive posted elsewhere I am an former eeepc 1000H owner (I never could get used to the small right shift key) and ASUS made changing the screen resolution really easy. Some posts seem to indicate the intel video app allows for it but others suggest Qres hacks.

Any help would be appreciated from you lucky AAO owners since I have had a 6 cell on order from Amazon since Sept 3 and want to cancel if the AAO doesnt make it easy.

    Thanks

Even having a virtual 1024x768 desktop, your apps may not support working that way. Anyway virtual desktop is a really hard enviroment, I never get used to it when I tried.

Thanks schyz... I agree with your comments... it is not ideal but it worked fine for me on the 1000H so I am okay with it and really just want to know if it will do it OOTB easily. Anybody?

i use 1024x768 constantly, it runs all my apps requiring that res, i just picked it from list in display properties. it keeps the setting upon reboot. the scrolling is not bad its only like an inch up and down. SNO

I was hoping to find out how to do exactly this since some apps I need for class don't play nice with the native resolution. scudder, the option to view non-native resolutions is not available by default. after poking around here, i found a post where someone pointed out that by going into the display settings --> settings tab --> advanced --> monitors tab, you can uncheck the box that says, "only show options that graphics adapter can display" or something to that effect. once you uncheck that, tons of additional resolutions will become available. i don't most would work well. in fact, i've read warnings about ruining your hardware by selecting the wrong resolution, but... at the very least 1024x768 will work.

good luck getting your One soon! best purchase i've made in a while...

This is what i was looking for....
as it was the sole reason for NOT getting an AcerAspireOne over the competition.

    Now that problem is solved.

It doesn't break your hardware at all. The monitor on the AAO is able to display 1920x1080 scrolling resolution easily.
