I recently purchase this card, and installed it. The BCM970012 version, which is cheaper than BCM70012. (about 6 dollars. thats a good burger)

I replaced my Dell 1390, so I am hoping that this card really justifies the word "worth" as I would likely have to seek a wifi solution for Win/MAC/uBuntu.

For now I am using a Netgear USB dongle, which works for all 3 OS. WG111v2. I was thinking about wiring it internally but the thing gets hot, and lacks antenna ports. So I went ahead and ordered a VNT6656. And going to wire that internally. I believe it only works with Windows  but it it works in uBuntu, then Ill be fine.

Now getting to my main concern, when I play a 1080p MKV file it plays ok, but not what I can say a "smooth" playback.
It sometimes stutters, and cant really enjoy a film this way.

I know that the card is being used, because when I disable it in the Device Manager, the file will play horribly.
I am using the HP drivers, and ARCsoft TMT to play the movie. Didnt have sound until I installed AC3filter.

What I am thinking is that, the file does not play well becasue I am using the notebook screen, as I havent had a chance to output it to a TV/Monitor capable of 1080p.

Or could it be that Windows 7 isnt performing well at this. I read that you use less CPU with XP.

What else could it be? Have any of you with this card and the AOA done any modifications to boost performace?

Please Input your thoughts and ideas to help.

    My system:
    AOA110 w/SATA MOD
HDD: Western Digital 3200 BEV 320GB
    RAM: 1.5 GB w/ Kingston 1GB
Touch Screen: Disabled At the moment
Bluetooth: Nano dongle soldered on m-PCIe (where WIFI used to be, wheere Broadcom is now)
^ THis brings up the question to me, is this affecting performance from the BCM970012? I wouldent think so as it is using the USB bus, and dont think the card uses the USB bus at all.

Try a different player, like Zoomplayer or KMplayer. Then you can properly choose the "Broadcom Video decoder" and "AC3filter" codecs.

AC3Filter has to be hijacking Arcsoft's graph in order for your sound to be working. The stutter is most likely dropped frames to sync the audio, so try a different audio codec.

    Thank you for your response,

as you said I went ahead and downloaded Zoom player, as well as KMPlayer

They both seem to be very good players, but no where on the settings/options do I see anything about being able to use the Broadcom Video Decoder.

    where is this listed?

You have to raise the "Merit" value of Broadcom Video Decoder from "Do not use" to "Normal" with Directshow filter manager.

How to select codec filters in Zoomplayer and KMplayer is best found on their websites. here is KMplayer; http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/showthre ... 559&page=2
