Shenanigans!!! It had a Gateway BIOS post. That was not the Acer booting. Probably a video being played on the Acer.

I am currently running the Gateway BIOS on my AAO. It allows 4 lower brightness levels that Acer has omitted due to an early model screen flaw. Works perfect and battery life should be bumped up a tad.

Just because there's a gateway bios on AAO doesn't mean the video's fake. I use the gateway bios so I get the lowest 4 brightness level consistantly. With v.3309 bios, sometimes I get the lowest 4 brightness level and sometimes I don't.

Not any that I can think of. Though i suggest flashing the AAO with an acer bios before you send it in to Acer for service.

Do you use any fan control software for Windows? As I understand it, neither aa1ctl nor AA1FanControl have been patched yet to recognise the Gateway and Packard Bell BIOS.

None of the fancontrol apps works under Windows 7. If you have Vista or XP, AA1Fancontrol and AA1ctl will work with packard bell and gateway bios for sure. I used to use it. The fancontroll tool sometimes lose control through. E.g. reading the wrong temperature..etc. Nevertheless the fan control functions still works ( at least AA1ctl).

Though, Windows 7 can control the fan speed automatically or sort of manually. The feature is integrated into the power management section of the OS. Right now, I sort of locked my fan to slow mode. However, I can't it it to stop spinning.

    Hmmm, interesting.

AA1FanControl has always worked for me with all the Win7 builds so far. I am using BIOS v3114.
