Sorry for being unclear. Caraconejo left out a few things. Follow the second link he posted for the complete post.

The last line from the complete post is what I replied to.

Could someone please translate this to english? I'd really like to have 2GB on my AAO.

    Google translations doesn't actually help:

Without activated PAE, the unit of 2 gigas (+512 in plate) does not take… with PAE Doing ONE never accepts 2 GIGAS (2´5 gigas) and apart from which it works, it goes more relieved in XP

Need a native speaker I think?

    Or

Without activated PAE, the module of 2 jigs (512 in badge) does not start ... with PAE the ACER ONE he accepts 2 JIGS (never 2 ´ 5 jigs) and in addition to that it works, it is more vented on XP

    Which rougly translates into:
Without activating PAE, the 2 GB module (+512 on board) won't be accepted... with PAE activated the Acer One does accept 2GB (but not 2.5 GB)

The later part is confusing me a bit, but looking at the translations, I'd say it simply says that with 2GB of ram the performance is improved.

A native speaker would indeed be nice though.

According to the definition of PAE, his explaination is wrong.

    PAE

SPDTool: Read, Edit and Flash your Memory's SPD
    http://www.techpowerup.com/spdtool/SPDTool_063.zip

If it has to do with the RAM! I apologize for my bad English! because I am Spanish and bad language

Enabling PAE on our small, with 1 gig that a total of 512 + 1.5 gigs, it would certainly improve performance, while the PAE bridge north of the plate, the chipshet permits, depending on the hardware may be , right or wrong, the thing works AAO 110 ... The SAP, which is done using 4-bit control registers to extend memory, although we do not have that memory (...), completely changing the operation of the treatment of memory

The second that I have not tested but it seems feasible to try and of course, is to take a memory module 2gb of DDR Ram for AA1, in this case by clicking on our AA1 pricked on another computer that supports the module perfectly.

Then from that same computer would use an application called spdtool, since we give the application read the module that we played, there is a memory parameter called "Number of Row Addresses on This Assembly" which by default comes in 14, to amend 13 then we give to "fix checksum," write the new data in memory.

We take this report's fucking in AA1, and supposedly you should not start with 2gb of ram.

I have been reading that there are people who have tried and it worked properly, I can not say that I have worked for that I have not even tried, I need another laptop that uses DDR2 memory

I would just be worried that if that program ever decided to go south, that you would be left with a brick. Yes, you could take it apart and reinstall a 1G module, but who wants to do that, and who can say for sure that it would even work after doing that? Seems to me that this program would be doing some restructuring of data on the pre-OS level, and may be irrecoverable.

Definitely not going to try anytime soon; I love my little One too much...1.5 G seems to be doing everything I need it to do...honestly, it was working with 1G, now it's just a little better... :)

I think what we need is someone to do some mojo on the BIOS and allow us to disable the onboard memory from there...

Oh, yeah: We take this report's fucking in AA1, and supposedly you should not start with 2gb of ram. LOL!!!

I thought that this was a forum for overclocking ...

The AAO does not boot into BIOS when you get a piece of 2 GB of RAM that is passed in size with 512 megabytes of the plate.

I have an ACER ASPIRE 2029Z andalusia something similar happens with more than 2 GIGAS unbootable BIOS

The idea is outlandish or desoldar RAM 512 of the plate and put 1 + 1 GIGA GIGA SLOT in the mobile ...

Or crack a piece of RAM and leave at 2 GIGAS GIGAS 1.5 + 2 = 512 megs GIGAS enable PAE in my opinion says that does not leave that screen in black, who would have blamed all sorts of evils.

In any case, the data say that the north bridge on the motherboard supports 2 GIGAS also supports PAE and the most important asset is a stable, with a maximum of 2 GIGAS, which satisfied with its 512 + 1 gig, I see no reason to be bothered by a step to investigate further.

anyone thought about desoldering the onboard 512mb memory chips and stick a 2gb ram in slot? would it work?

Are there any laptops with one gig onboard? If its necessary for the onboard ram to be there in order to post perhaps you could desolder the 512 and solder in 1 gig onboard. I dont know, just reaching.

Has anyone tried contacting Acer regarding a bios update to disable onboard ram? I still don't quite understand why the option isn't there to begin with. Does it have something to do with that agreement regarding xp on netbooks?

Ok guys I sent an email to Acer regarding this issue.

Kind of dissapointing the MSI Wind and the EEE got the full 2GB while we are stuck with 1.5GB.

They use *the same* hardware so it might work but it's too risky I think..

Asked acer support a while back, got the answer that i should remember the purpose of a netbook - the supporter i spoke to didnt think there was any purpose in having 2gb og memory in a netbook.
