I thinks it is waiting for someone to take the plunge and actually order one, or wait until matey boy gets them in stock and gets one tested. With the conversations I have been having with him it sounds like he does not have any coming in immediately as nobody has ordered them yet.

Yes, I convinced him that he had to get rid of all references to PCIe including both text and picture in order for anybody wanting to actually order this product. He was very quick about it actually.

cool! Is that the right dimensions? I see no reason why it would not work. All the ssd's use IDE interface just with different connectors.

Yep, you are right. I should have written PATA-ZIF and not IDE-ZIF.
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/AT_Attachment

What I really meant was that it is clear now that it is not a PCIe-ZIF :)

PCIe is also just a connector.. They pcie cards still use the ide channels on the pcie format.

I think that it will. That would be just like fitting in a 1.8" PATA-ZIF hard drive. Just check whether it requires the normal Toshiba type flex cable or the Hitachi style flipped cable.

Edit: OK, according to http://www.dvnation.com/spns.html it is the Toshiba type connector, so you should be able to use the flex cable that already is in your AA1. They are selling at US$ 599 there!

So now you would need this (ordering mine today)
    http://www.addonics.com/products/io/aaedt18ide25.asp

combined with something like this (I already have this)
    http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.a ... 6812232002

    and one of these
    http://www.thefreecountry.com/utilities ... mage.shtml

I normally use the Seagate DiscWizard for disk cloning, but it will not work in this case as one of the disks has to be a Seagate disk. The last time I upgraded my notebook I used an other tool which resembles Xcopy and is not on the list above. I'll try to find the name of it when I get home today.

I hope that you will provide an ATTO disk benchmark of both the old and new SSD!

Edit : The software I was thinking of was http://www.xxclone.com/ which worked like a charm cloning XP to a new hard disk for upgrading an old notebook.

No, I don't need any of those things - I'm a Linux user, haven't touched Windows in years, and have no intention of ever doing so.

For me its simply a matter of doing a backup of my home dir, copying the tarball somewhere, then doing a fresh install to the 32gig drive .. probably going to give Ubuntu a try, as the Linpus monstrosity is really not my thing. I mean, who ships a Linux distro these days that you can't upgrade or use the freshest repo's with, seriously .. sheesh ..

Anyway, the drive itself looks pretty good - I think I'll try to do a full install this afternoon and I'll let you know how it progresses .. if there is a known accepted way of doing a report on performance metrics with Linux, then let me know how it is and I'll report the results too.
