Dumb question but.. Have you flipped the physical switch? As with the wlan card, just to the left instead?

Not that dumb... In 3G Acer this is probably the way of activating radio in WWAN card... SIM card should be recognized later as a "key" to select right network...

I've got an AA1 with integrated 3G, so I can explain how it works here.

I've inserted my SIM card in the slot behind the battery, dunno if it fits in there more than one way, but make sure it's inserted until it clicks and stays there.

If I start GlobeTrotter and it says Radio OFF, i switch the wlan switch to the left, and it starts looking for networks.
After it has registered to one, clicking Connect gets me online.

So i'd check the switch, and make sure you have the drivers properly installed. Check device manager, to make sure you don't have any yello exclamation marks.

I love having 3g so easily available, no dongles or anything. And I get great speeds :)
