I've read many topics on this forum about 5200 mah batteries. Many users complain that they are labeled 5200 but in reality they are all 4400 batteries. 5200: myth or reality? That's my question.

I would like to see a pic of it installed though if anyone can please post it to see if it is bigger in size then the 4400.

I have had this for a week and it is the real deal. They claim 5300 and my test shows just under 5200. Close enough. Also the assembly appears to be of very high quality

And my guess is you may get it if you shut down WiFI. Screen as dark as possible and picking the most agressive acp config. Also not a lot of IO.
I get around 5 1/2 to 6 with none of the above being done.

I bought a 6-cell from some seller bill-something-or-another. Advertised as 5200mAh, BatteryBar reports it as 5200mAh, so there are 5200mAh batteries out there.

    Yes, it's real.

The 5200 was the capasity of the original Acer replacement 6-cell when it came to market, seems that some other manufacturers have adopted the design too. I myself have the original Acer 6-cell and also get around 5½ - 6 hours with wifi on doing websurfing and so on..

Ok I'm all most sold on getting one. I don't do FleaBay/ EBay any more with getting burned one to many times on deals. Also I would like to get a good quality one if anyone can post who sell a good one or OEM one that I would think may be better then some ebay ones that may be made with cheaper batteries inside.

    Ya mean like this?

And on a sidenote, batterylife will differ depending on each persons setup, my Ubuntu is tweaked with all the power saving options from the Ubuntu community site and I use fan management software (acerfand) to control my fan. A normal full install of Ubuntu 8.10 will give you around 4 - 4.5 hours runtime only. About Windows I don't know...

    I have a "7800" mah battery.
It isn't 'broken in' yet so I'm only getting about 6 hours out of it.
I could probably get more, but I hook up my Maxtor 500 one touch external HDD
and the DVD burner/reader so as to discharge as quickly as possible.
I was told I could get 'up to' 9 hours out of it. I'll be happy with 8 or 9

I got a 5200mAH battery from an ebay seller in Hong Kong. Admittedly, the first one that I received was only 4400mAH...

I called Acer USA today to purchase a bigger battery. I was told they do not sell one. Then was given this # to try to get one
1-865-940-5040 who also told me a bigger battery is made. I told both they are wrong and tried to proved it with links. Sadly both told me yes it looks like bigger batteries seem to be made but they do not sell them. Please post details on places you purchased your bigger batteries from. My main concern on getting one I want a good quality one at a fair /good price.

Can't tell you where to get one in the US, since I'm in Finland myself (where about every other webstore sell the Acer 6-cell battery), but what I can do is give you the part number for the batteries which might help you locate them.

LC.BTP00.017 for the black (for the blue One)
and LC.BTP00.018 for the white one.

    Hope that helps :)
