Anyone try successfully install osx on the 532h? MIchael
I've seen a few videos on youtube with people that have installed mac but that's all I've seen. I have the same problem as you wanting to know if it can be done. Although I'm downloading an image right now to see if it will install and if I can get the wireless working.
I can successfully install the snowywind dist. everyone is installing with the cpus=1 tag, but just get constant reboot loop. Even with the cpus=1, but it installs.... Michael
Iatkos v7 on 532h with broadcom wifi. Ethernet and card reader do not work, I have not tried to use the mic. Camera does work. I might try netbookinstaller later. I would like to triboot moblin from sd slot before reinstalling osx.
It was installed via cd. I can't remember the options as I lost the paper I wrote them down on. I'll pop the cd in later and figure it out agian. You do need a broadcom chip for wifi access or a usb wifi dongle. takes about 30 mins.
i had the best luck installing (restore) iso on usb using a Mac program called Super Duper. I tried using external DVD, think the speed was too slow which caused problems with the install (tried 5 times before looking at alternatives).
Michael, now that you've installed OSX on 532h, its time for you to write here in detail which version and how did you do it, in the spirit of this forum and for the benefit of future users.
I downloaded this torrent from the bay: SNOWLEO MAC Snow Leopard OSX86_64 For INTEL/AMD 32/64 MBR/GUID I burned the ISO to a DVD and used a external dvd burner to install...at startup I hit F8 and used the cpus=1...the only problem I had was that I didn't select the ps2 patch and didn't have use of the keyboard or touch pad....I restarted setup and installed and I was able to setup leo...I let it install the patches it selected by itself...the only thing I added was the kernel for the atom processor... Once installed it is very laggy since there is no video support. I have found a script that will give the proper resolution, but the system is still laggy. I did have USB working and sound. I didn't try the cam, mic, or audio ports, it didn't show any type of networking either. If anyone wants the torrent please drop me a line and I will be more than happy to post it if its allowed or send me a e-mail. Is there any hope for video support? MIchael
For wireless use the arch=i386 flag at boot to make SL boot in 32-bit mode. Atheros drivers aren't written in 64-bit.
The 532h has atheros wireless, so i dont think theres driver for it is there? am imissing something? My hd crashed and im waiting on the new one....have win7 installed on a 20GB spare which doesnt leave much for anything else, but would love to install it again when my new drive comes.... Any news on the video? Michael
Ok, got my new drive. Re-installed OSX....ran netbookinstaller 0.84pre...after reboot it auto fixed the resolution, but still no acceleration. Cam works out of the box, ethernet works with a add-in kext that i can make available. Stuff that doesnt work is video and wifi...card reader anyone get these to work? Getting closer Michael
I have followed your steps and been able to install the snow leopard iso. I select the Atom Processor and it runs through and restarts without an issue. However it then just brings up a blank cursor and does nothing. What can I do now? If i boot the DVD again it starts a brand new install.
GOT IT! I now have running on my Aspire One Snow Leopard 10.6.2. I followed the above steps and select both the Atom and Chocolate kernel patches. I then updated to 10.6.2 by backing up the extensions and kernel before the combo update. Once it was updated I put my extensions back in and also the old kernel. Running very smooth, tried to get a Intel 3945 WiFi working but both my networks are WEP/WPA key so not working. Going to get a dell wifi card to put in. Also what to try and get the ethernet port working. And going to see if I can use an external screen.
Here is the kext i used to get ethernet working...I use netbookinstaller when updating and adding any kexts... http://rapidshare.com/files/387041280/ethernet.rar.html Would be nice if we could get video working Michael
