Spotted in a phone shop in Burgas, Bulgaria, a blue 8gig Linpus AA1, and the sales ticket beside it boasted that it had a 56K modem. This is the land which still has analogue exchanges with pulse dialing, but every village has wireless broadband. So has anyone else heard of a dial up AA1?. Sales staff showed the modem lead plugged into the ethernet port, the other end had the uniquely wierd Bulgarian phone plug fitted.

It was also 100 BGL (UKP 40) cheaper than mine, which I got from 'Technopolis', the BG equivalent to Currys or Comet in the UK.

I have never heard of any AA1 including a 56K modem. What you saw maybe an AA1 connected to a dial up to ethernet or dial up to USB adapter. Or the sales person doesn't know what the hell they are talking about and can't tell the difference between a phone and a ethernet port.
