I asked the same question a few days ago. They already did release a 6 cell version with SSD. They sold them at newegg.com but now the item has been deactivated as they are out of stock. So I suspect they will release the 160GB HDD w/ 6 cell and soon after 8GB SSD.

The Acer US Website currently does not show a 6-cell SSD LINUX model. They do say that the models available can vary by country.

Just ordered a white 160gb windows 6cell from CDW. just going to put ubuntu on it, although i was curious to check out linpus but I figure I'd probably change it to ubuntu anyway. The hd version may be a little heavier but i have a ton more space and don't have to worry about the writing data concerns w/ the SSD.
