Hi, I've successfully installed both xubuntu 8.04.1 and ubuntu 8.10 and applied the tweeks detailed here https://help.ubuntu.com/community/AspireOne#Step 3: Tweak / Fix to get better 3d acceleration. This hints work flawlessly in 8.04.1 (glxgears reports ~800fps) but with 8.10 I still have ~400fps.
    Anyone experiencing the same issue?
    Thank you

I have on ly about 230 fps in 8.10. Strange, it should be higher. Reporting back when I have solved this.

    This is my xorg.conf file

    Code:
    # xorg.conf (X.Org X Window System server configuration file)
    #
    # This file was generated by dexconf, the Debian X Configuration tool, using
    # values from the debconf database.
    #
    # Edit this file with caution, and see the xorg.conf manual page.
    # (Type "man xorg.conf" at the shell prompt.)
    #
    # This file is automatically updated on xserver-xorg package upgrades *only*
    # if it has not been modified since the last upgrade of the xserver-xorg
    # package.
    #
    # If you have edited this file but would like it to be automatically updated
    # again, run the following command:
    # sudo dpkg-reconfigure -phigh xserver-xorg

    Section "Device"

    	Option "MonitorLayout" "LVDS,VGA"
            Option "Clone" "true"

    EndSection

    Section "Screen"
    	Identifier	"Default Screen"
    	Monitor "Configured Monitor"

    EndSection
    Can you post yours.

My xorg.conf is exactly the same.. I seem to remember that the one under Xubuntu 8.4.1 were somewhat longer..didn't pay much attention because everything was just working well..

Mine is the same, and I get 230-250 fps too.
Anyway on ubuntuforums there are other people complaining about 3d performance, maybe it's a driver problem..

If it's a driver problem I suppose that downgrading the driver (xorg side, not kernel side) would do the trick..
I will give it a try tonite after work
