This has probably been asked, but I'll ask anyway. :)

I have a $300 gift card to walmart and I wanted an $258 XP 8.9 aspire one for college. Until today I wasn't aware of the 10.1'' model. It's also available at walmart, though it's $328, which is over my budget. Here are the differences as far as I can tell.

    Code:
Aspire One 8.9 Aspire One 10.1
Includes USB Mouse Doesn't include anything
    3-cell battery 6-cell battery

As far as I can tell, that's it. They both run XP, both have the same amount of RAM, same HDD. Identical systems, except one has a slightly larger screen and costs $70 more. I didn't know if I should consider buying the 10.1 or not. What do you guys think? Thanks.

The 6 cell will allow you almost 2x the amount of battery life. The average for the 8.9 inch is 2-3hrs, so having 5-6hrs of battery life can surely make your life easier. It really depends on you, if you have $70 to spare then 10.1 inch really makes a difference in terms of how much more readable the screen will be. I have 2 netbooks, the 8.9 AAO and a 10.1 inch HP Mini 1000, and the screen size really makes a difference. That's just my opinion. :)

Edit: forgot to mention. expandability(swap HD or add more RAM) is easily done via panels on the bottom. Unlike the 8.9 inch that requires full disassembly of the unit.

I have an AA1 8.9" and it did not come with a mouse and Walmart's ads have been confusing as of late. Meaning they sometimes seem to include stuff but really don't. I also have an AA1 10.1" d150-1920 the red one. The improvements in style are quite evident. The ffact you can boot from the SDHC card reader shows they have made improvements in their hardware compatibility. For those Windows users out there the Acer backup can produce a set of factory setup disk even after you have used the computer for a while. I also have a 17" Acer Aspire but the backup could only be used the very first time you started your computer so the AA1 10.1 inch is again an improvement. The text on the 10.1 inch is easier for me to read. The RAM, HD and wireless card can be upgraded via the panel on the bottom without taking the computer apart. For these reasons I recommend the 10.1 inch AA1.
