I hope you don't get offended when I disclosed our private discourse but I feel the public needs a little warning on this, it's (more than) a bit shady.

I personally use the tool notebook battery info

no problem, it still may be OK in the end. This ebayer seems to specialize in laptop batteries and had quite a bit of good feedback so they do have a reasonably good track record. Let's hope that they have chosen a good product. The design isn't as cool as the other version but maybe the "guts" will be good.

did you get any info from your vendor?

yeah, my vendor told me that the part is from shenzhen's cebit company.

so I looked it up (helps since I read Chinese), and it turned out that the Cebit company is a fairly legit company that assemble cells. they claim that they use cells from LG, Sanyo and another Japanese company (sony is curiously absent) and control circuit from TI, sounds pretty good. Even the factory made simplo battery uses Chinese made cells (I just trust Japanese and Korean cell more because they've been making them longer).

Now, my part looks exactly like your part, except a difference in capacity. So there must be some sort of connection there.

I heard it's diffcult to get Li-ion cells in bulk to prevent truly unqualified manufacturers, so pretty much all the generic laptop batteries are decent.

My battery should be arriving soon (tomorrow or the day after), I'll let you guys know and write up a review. I am already all set up to condition the part.

I read the reviews, and if anything, I am not particularly worried. Actually, it's amazing how at minimal usage EeePC can manage to get 16 (that's right, SIXTEEN!) hours of usage out of 89W battery. that translate to 5.56W of energy usage. my hard drive Aspire one uses around 7.8 W as bare minimum.

battery eater reports around 276 min of usage (maximum power consumption), my guess for minimum battery usage scenario it will go around 8 hours ish.

does battery eater have an intelligent method of determining usage of the host computer? or is it just an average guess?

battery eater runs a pre-defined program that stresses the computer to the max.

I will post probably some point tomorrow. I thought that the design is going to be more awkward than Cameron Sino, and that turned out to not be the case. The battery forms a very comfortable grip and the screen can extend pretty far backward.

    handy388,

How long did it take to reach you from the time you ordered it? And where are you located?

    Thanks

    Cheers.

a couple photos of my new battery, received order from HK to Northeast USA in 9 days.

my overall opinion is that it photographs larger than it feels in real use, and the most striking thing is that the exterior build quality is very good. You can see from a couple of the detail photos that the materials/textures match quite well. And the fit and structure works well with the AcerOne. I don't have any idea as to how well it will perform over time. But for the $90US that I paid, I'm happy.

but one that keeps on running!

the total weight is 2.9lbs (1.3kg) and it is still half what my other laptop weighs. The battery alone is approx. 1lb

I think it just looks chubbier in the photos because of the low angle to get a better look.

here are 2 screenGrabs from Notebook BatteryInfo
