hey, glad to see you got your battery! we have the exact same item. however, here's the shady part, I don't think our part is manufactured by SIMPLO. I was told that mine was manufactured by Cebit.co, but otherwise we have the exact same part, at least from the outside.

now, here's the shady part. my 6600mah, 11.1V battery also have a design capacity of 73260mah, and an actual capacity of 71528mah, correspond to the real capacity of 6440mah. on the other hand, your battery shows an actual capacity of 66600mah.

now, the full capacity of your battery, if the label of 7200mah is correct, should be 7200x11.1 = 79920. your actual capacity of 66600 correspond to 6000mah, or a 16.67% off what your battery is supposed to be.

Have you conditioned your battery by a full discharge/charge cycle?

it looks like the difference between the design capacity and the actual capacity is relative to the wear level. What is the wear level on yours?

I have not conditioned the battery.

Is the design capacity taken from firmware or does it somehow sense the actual batteries?

under the "current battery values" tab how is the capacity in mWh calculated?

    thanks

you don't "condition" the battery, you recalibrate it. I understand that aspire one will properly sense the official specification of your battery and then give you the mWh as in voltage (11.1) times the capacity at that voltage (6600/7200mah). It SEEMS that what you have actually recieved is a 6600mah battery, can you confirm the mah specification on your battery's label?

I have 3% wear level on my battery, that is 71528 mwh.

Did you have a 10% level wear on your battery out of the box? I sold a battery I've been using for 3 month, and even then the wear was only 8%.

I would suggest you to check out a software named battery eater, fully charge the computer, then fully discharge to 0 until it turns off itself to recalibrate the battery, and report the end result to us. Last time I did that, I was able to regain some capacity.

    the label says 7200

if the Acer senses the spec in the firmware and all stats are derived from it, we need to hope that it's correct. Does you manufacturer also show up as Simpl0 ?

I have a battery charger/conditioner that unfortunately is only for NiCad's that discharges and then reads the true capacity. If the battery is using old firmware then I may need something like this, or crack open the case..... or be happy with a 6600mah version..... I thnk that may be my best solution.

I'll give battery eater a try in the next couple days.

    regards,

nah, you don't condition it with the battery charger, you condition with software.

what you do, is you basically use battery eater to discharge all the way to 0%, then to recharge all the way. chance is you may or may not regain more capacity, but your computer will read the correct amount of capacity. in your case i think you'll get more capacity.

    > nah, you don't condition it with the battery charger, you condition with software.

I think that the rationale for using a charger to recondition Ni-Cads/ NiMH was because of memory problems and most devices would shut down before a full discharge. So draining a laptop battery or similar in the device was never efficient. It appears that Lithium batteries don't benefit from full recycling of the battery in the same way, with the exception of reseting smart controllers, and some people believe that it is actually detrimental to their charging capacity.

I can see how the computer may adapt to a new capacity with a smart controller, but I still wonder if the "design capacity" is embedded in the controller and not capable of changing.

in the case of a new battery, recalibration is a pretty good idea (I've done it)

and also, my manufacturer show up as simplo as well. it's pretty shady if that persons just rebrand 6600mah parts to become 7200mah, which seems like that right now.

fwiw the aao's user manual has a section titled, "conditioning a new battery pack" and describes fully discharging the battery until the netbook shutdowns by itself, and recommends doing this 3 times (full charge and full discharge a total of 3 times).

if you do this maybe you'll gain some "full charged capacity" numbers, but based on the calculations by handy it seems highly suspicious that it's a real 7200mah battery.

auto spambot or not, this guy ranks as the #1 annoying poster on the board. 12 of his 15 total posts (as of this writing) are the exact same sales pitch.

I see that there is another shape 9-cell on eBay here http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Acer-ASPIRE-ONE-Z ... 240%3A1318. This appears to stick out further back rather than below, which I think I would prefer.

Has anyone tried these? Could you post pics of it attached if you have?

While I was on eBay I noticed a 10400mAh battery for the eee. If someone produces similar monsters for the One, 12 hour battery life may be just around the corner. It's a shame the battery will probably weigh more than the computer but it should be useful for anyone flying to Australia :D .

    TIA

How do you know it is not charging? I mean maybe the software is just not seeing the change. Is your battery light green or is it orange? Have you tried to run the AAO on battery power to see how long it will run. If the battery is really at only 7.1 % then the AAO will not run long.

i know the battery did'nt charge because it's been plugged for about 4 hours and the the indicator light is still orange. i unplugged the charger to try to run my AAo on battery power, but it didnt turn ON. I also tried monitoring the charging status for 1 hour while my AAO is turned ON, the 7.1% reading did not change. :)

I have the same problem. I charge the battery with aao on the whole night, it shows 90% in the morning but when reboot it goes back to 7%. Only managed to charge it up the 1st time. The same problem, aao doesn't boot with battery. Battery seller is going to ship another piece for me to try.

I had success with Haobattery from ebay, he's pretty legit, although I haven't heard of good news about the new 7200mah battery yet.

I've ordered one of these from ugooole. It's been about a week, so I hope to receive it shortly. Communication hasn't been great (i.e. my purchase hasn't been acknowledged and there's been no response to my follow up e-mail) - but I'm going to give it a bit more time to see what comes through.

I'll post an update when I have one.
