    I use these settings:
    Fan off @ 55°c
    Fan slow @ 65°c
    Fan auto @ 70' c

Seems to work very well for me.
I used a bit higher temperatures because SpeedFan tells me 10°c less than A1CTL.

I thought I would err on the side of caution as I really don't know anything about what a CPU can stand, so I thought my settings would be ok :)

This is a great tool, but it seems to have messed up the "Battery remaining" display. Both A1Ctl's battery remaining display and XP's built in battery-display are stuck on a fixed percentage for me and don't update at all. I've tried both with and without patching and it is even stuck in XP when I don't start a1ctl.

So something seems to be messed up with the battery-remaining display.

Am I going mad or did the total time remaing always show above the battery symbol???

Now I can only see the remaining time if I hover over the chip symbol.... can someone tell me what I need to do to get it back.

The only thing I have done is change my Windows Theme from the Standard blue to Royale Noir...... ah, maybe the writing was in black, so now I can't see it..

Could someone tell me how I can get it back again please.

    Many thanks in advance :)

I tried to install the a1ctl and everything seens fine, but suddenly the netbook shut downs without any message. That happens from time to time, so I had to uninstall it. Maybe some kind of service is missing...

    Cheers

I don't have any problems with the app working or with my A150, it's just the time remaining that seems to have merged in with the 'Royale Noir' theme :(

    Wow, sorted it myself. :D

I looked at the a1ctl text file that comes as part of the package and it reads 'BatteryTextColor=&HO' so I changed it to '&HFFFFFF' the same as the CPU temp.

    :D

I had the same problem with my AAO 1gb XP model. See this post for the saga:
    viewtopic.php?f=10&t=9120

I ended up disabling it from starting at boot, and un-patched the APCIEC driver. So far it hasn't crashed yet...

First of all, I just wanted to say thanks for such a great utility! Out of the 3 Windows-based fan utilities currently floating around this site, this one is by far my favorite... especially within Windows XP!

I'm curious if you're planning to port some of the advanced functions to Vista and Windows 7. The fan controlling stuff already works in Vista, but some options do not. As for Windows 7 Build 7000 (which runs great by the way), I'm getting the mscomctl missing or corrupt file error. I installed the VB 6 runtime, but that didn't help. From what I've read online, compatibility is still being worked out. It's obviously still in beta, but I'd love to see it working if that's possible.

Anyway, just a little feedback for you. Keep up the good work! It is very much appreciated.

I had problems with Win7 and A1CTL when UAC was activated. Turning it off allowed A1CTL to work perfectly.

    I love A1CTL - good job!

Thanks for the suggestion, but unfortunately it's still not working for me. I even set up the executables to run as administrator and in "vista compatible" mode. The issue does seem to be the MSCOMCTL.OCX file (VB 6 Common Controls). It still says "Component MSCOMCTL.OCX or one of its dependencies not correctly registered: a file is missing or invalid".

I tried running the VB 6 install as administrator too. Restarted the computer and still nothing. Did you see anything like this?

The VB 6 file I installed is the one listed on the same site where we download A1CTL. Maybe there's another version somewhere. Also, what version/build of Windows 7 were you using?

    Thanks!

Yes I did get that error message and unlike XP it didnt allow the file to be in the same directory, so I installed the VB runtime from the blog and it worked, only other thing I did but didnt seem to make any difference was to copy the file into the Windows/System32 dir.

Well, I guess it must be something else I installed. Not sure what that might be. Either way, in the comments posted on the download page, someone mentioned a fix found here:

    http://www.mp3-ripper.net/download/setup-ocx.exe

I installed that and A1CTL is up and running! I'm siked. Thanks for your help!

i have windows-7, and it doesn't work unless i turn off UAC.

i can also run a1ctl manually 'as administrator' with UAC turned on.

is it possible to 'run as administrator' with auto-start up ???

If you right-click on any executable file, there should be a "compatibility" tab. in there, you'll find an option to run as administrator. that *should* work.
