Having trouble with this. Installed, patched the driver, no fan (no change in temp reading). Unpatched, uninstalled, and now I'm getting critical battery warnings even though the battery is fully charged. Windows is throwing me into hybernation because of the critical battery warnings.

I have an AOD (10 inch) Acer Aspire One with Windows XP Home out of the box. A1Ctl was one of the first apps I installed because of the reviews here, but I just can't get it to work right.

I see a couple of others are having similar problems. Wonder if they have the 10 inch models as well.

    Any help? I'm stuck!

On the original AA1, Acer have a habit of updating the ACPI EC firmware as part of their BIOS updates. The changes in the ACPI EC firmware mandate changes to the way that fan control software uses the ACPI EC to control the fan. It's simply a case of using different EC register values but the correct values must be used for each BIOS version.

The 10" models introduced a different BIOS version numbering scheme and it is therefore likely that using fan control software originally intended for the 8.9" models may not work properly on the 10" models.

It is not beyond the realms of possibility either that Acer used a different ACPI EC in the 10" models.

That's about what I thought, but I'm still stuck.

So, is there any way to get my battery meter reading correctly? Do I need to do the eRcovery and restore it? Update my bios? I'm not even sure what bios version I've got running.

Yes, there is a little problem with webcam. . Noda know this bug when you enable the webcam (small bug) but he stop the developpement of AA1Ctrl :( The source are available and i think it's easy to fix this bug.

Been using this application for past several months on XP service pack 3. Great tool. However, yesterday my a1ctl taskbar icon disappeared and I cannot get it back. Seemed to coincide with a windows update. Any thoughts?

One thing I've noticed with a1ctl is that even when the temps hit 'fan auto' speeds it never seems to let the fan go at full pelt regardless of whether its needed or not. You will notice when you boot up and shut down the netbook, the fan will speed up to what is presumably the speed acer would like the fan set too. This concerns me a little bit, I've noticed in this current summer heat wave my Aspire One is hitting temps of 75c which makes the keyboard hot to the touch. Even disabling a1ctl from start up doesn't revert the system back to normal Acer fan settings.
