Sounds right to me. I think that PC World in the UK have discontinued them already (none on display in their Leeds city centre store this week) and retailers such as Asda are heavily discounting some models.

Shame. The 10in one is an ugly beast and for me, 10in rather than 8.9 with a hdd rather than a ssd disturbs my definition of a netbook. Good thing is: in the last market months of the orginal AA1, the price might really fall considerably. I'd buy another one for the wife!..

I know ! I don't get the hype about 10 inches laptops ? I already own a 17 inch laptop which is way more powerful them my acer with lot's of screen definition and everything. The thing is for mem my acer address a different need. I would not carry around my 17 inches laptop for the life of me. For second generation of AA1 I would personally have preferred same size ( or maybe be bit smaller ) but more important little more screen definition. 1280 x 800 would already been way better for me ! I do a lot of remote desktop and to be able to have a full 800x600 remote connection without scrolling would have make a huge difference for me. Not jumping up and down for the aa1 replacement but let's wait and see what the N280 and new chipset can deliver ( not holding my breath for it but you never know ! )

A comment on the Register thread from someone claiming to work for Acer says that they will not be discontinuing the 8.9", since they see the 8.9" and 10" appealing to different markets. Let's hope he's right! At least give the market a chance to make a decision by offering both at the same time for a few months...

I also note that they are not mentioning Linux versions, oonly listing XP as operating system. is this the end of Linspire Linux or any Linux version. from what have been able to find out and from my own experiances with Linspire version (replaced with XP)the XP versions have far outsold Linux by about 10 to 1.

I really hope that's true because I don't want anything bigger than this!
I mean, that's the whole purpose of netbooks, right ?
10" will be closer to 13.3" and that is what's called a notebook...
I don't mind taking the whole thing apart to get to the RAM and HDD as I like to take apart stuff, etc.

10" screen is almost the same thing as 9". I'd rather have a 10" screen in current AAO and lose the webcam than having a 9" screen.
