AA1 dies on battery only on some operating systems?!

Hi all, I've been having some probs with my AA1. Firstly it never worked on the original linpus lite, going to a black screen when battery got down to around 50 or 60%. When this happened there was no activity on the screen, no cursor, nothing, even tho the power light was on and the fan was buzzing away as normal. The only thing that worked was to hold the power button down and reboot. However, when i installed UNR 9.04, the problem went away, the same with Crunchbang and Linux Mint 7. Curiously tho, Moblin never worked and the updated UNR 9.10 and Linux Mint 8 similarly freeze when on the battery. I've also just tried Windows 7, thinking it might be a linux power management thingy, but thats also just died.

I've also tried updating the BIOS to 3310 but that made the fan go nuts, so i've just reflashed it to 3309.

Anyone any ideas? This things driving me nuts!

BTW, I have an AOA 110-Aw.

    Thanks in advance....

I have had a similar experience, albeit at lower battery levels (around 30-40%). I got the black screen with Linpus and Moblin but never with pre 9.10 Ubuntu unless I implemented the power saving tweaks found on the Ubuntu forums. I can suggest two possible workarounds - 1: use UNR 9.04, 2: keep the power supply plugged in ;)
Previous forum threads on this topic indicate that the only real solution is a new motherboard
