    Hi,
I have an AA1-110 with Linpus on it. If I attach an external DVD drive, is the hardware up to decoding and playing it? Also, what software would I need to watch it? If I had the WinXP version, would that work as well?

    In a word, yes.

VLC is more than capable of playing back external DVDs. I have an external USB Hitachi DVD re-writer. VLC is perfectly happy playing direct from the disk (disks are way slower than the internal processor anyhow), same as it will also play from a mounted .iso of a disk. Though I have only tried that once due to the huge memory overhead on an SSD based device.
