AAO 120gb, fresh install, movies, avi,divx start then crash

Hi, could anyone help?

I have just performed a clean install of Mandriva ( my first install of it) and when I try to open a divx or an AVI the program starts then dissapears (crashes).
This happens in Totem and in VLC, i have applied the codecs and still nothing.

This is my first go at mandriva and I would love to fix this.

If you could help I would be most grateful.

I think it is to do with Compiz, if that is what you said thanks!

I removed it for now till I can figure out the cause,

Ok so, i changed the prefs video output to X11 and it works for VLC.

I hope the above helps someone else.
