aao 751 and linux

    Hey,

    Anyone has the 11" 751 and succeeded running a linux distro properly?

    i tried

    ubuntu desktop intrepid
    ubuntu 904
    unr 904
    crunchbang
    sidux

    all have the screen resolution problem. and bad flash performance
    tried to fix it with

    and more 904 intel fixes..none worked for me..

    The problem is the GMA500 graphics core in the Intel US15 (Poulsbo) chipset , and the driversupport for that graphics chipset in Xorg. Currently you are running in vesa mode, instead of native hardwareaccelerated mode, when you install one of the above distros.

    Wait for a better driver, which probably/maybe/hopefully will be in the next iteration of Xorg.

    You might try the latest kernel from the www.kuki.me. It has the latest intel drivers. However, I don't know if it supports all of the hardware in the 751.

    FYI I have Fedora 11 and Ubuntu 9.04 running on this hardware. You need to install the psb driver.

    I posted some brief how-tos which point to links. They are at the top of the Fedora and Ubuntu forums respectively.

    In theory it should be possible on and rpm or deb system, although I have not tried.

    Earlier versions of Fedora / Ubuntu do not work so well as they do not have the wireless drivers.
