    Good morning!

I have a question regarding the Acer Aspire One and static..

I live in Chicago, where it gets very dry in the winter. Static is pretty much inevitable. What precautions should I be taking to protect my netbook? (I am not a computer genius who would be modding or taking apart the netbook; just normal usage.) I am concerned because I had a netbook die after someone touched it and generated a (very small) static electricity spark. I tried to use the recovery discs and followed directions I found on-line that involved the BIOS and a flash drive (sorry - don't remember details just now), but to no avail. Luckily, I was still under warranty and am waiting for the replacement now. So, what steps can I take to make sure this does NOT happen again!

    thanks so much!

    it shouldnt happen at all.

there is no metal on the exterior case, and if there was, it would be grounded.

Honestly it sounds more like a coincidence or some other factor than just static, especially since AAO are known for having bios problems before.
