I'm so f****** pist right now! I turned my AAO on today, and i worked just fine. And then it hangs it self up, so i rebooted. After this the screen is completely DEAD!

What to do!? Have i pressed a button! I'm thinking that i've pressed FN + switch screen, but i'm using Ubuntu, so it's NOT FN + switch screen.

Does anyone know what i can do or try!? Or is it going to need some repair? If yes, i hate Acer, cause it's nearly christmas now, so it will take at least two month before i have it again!

You could try booting from a LiveCD/or from a flash key that boots Linux and then running fsck on your internal drive.

    Cheers.

    step one, calm down.

step two, pull the power and that will shut it off.

step three, assuming you have access to another computer and the internet, create a recovery USB stick

Step four, plug it in and start up the machine and see if it helps

If you have to send it to acer, don't assume it will takes months. many people are getting them back in a week or so.

    good luck

Yeah, i have a bootable USB with Ubuntu on it. But how can i access it without a screen? And, if i send it to Acer it will take more then a week or two. It's christmasholiday very soon, and nobody works then. I live in Norway, and that's how things work here. So, im not getting it back before january. But i'll try to connect the usb to the computer and see if something gonna happen.

Update: it didn't work with the USB

160GB is most like to come out with either 3304 or 3305 bios. its really sad how such a great machine can turn to instant garbage.

Do yourself a favour and update the bios now. Even with the newer one, it just helped to recover, you still have the faulty one (i'm assuming 3114). Do note that you will probably lose your lower brightness settings now as a result of upgrading the bios.

Press F2 when booting and in General tab, look at your BIOS version!
Go to www.macles.blogspot.com to download and read BIOS instructions!
    Good Luck!

I upgraded to v0.3305 myself earlier today and I have to say that it seems to run cooler!
I upgraded to v0.3305 because it was the newest one at the Acer Support & Download center.
