First of all: Are you using windows XP or Vista?

I've been trying to get this to work under Vista and have encountered several problems. After much tinkering I've finally come to a point where it seems that the driver simply won't work "as is" in Vista.

For your problem though, I might have a solution.
    First, open the device manager.
Look up "Memory technology driver", it should contain JMB38X Host controller for MS/SD/xD/MMC cards (Only visible if a card is present in the reader on my One).
With your SD card in the reader you should see it under "Disk drives" called something like JMCR SD/MMC SCSI Disk Device.
Right click this and choose "update driver".
I'm unsure if the following applies to a XP install, but what you're aming for is to get a list of drivers available on the computer and a button or link called "have disk". Clicking "have disk" should make it possible to browse to the location of your modified driver to install it without windows comparing it to the current driver.

I hope you can make it work!

EDIT: just going though my own guide it suddenly started working for me! Yay!
