A simple one apparently a frayed wire. When twisted electricity flows, no power otherwise .Question:
What is the cylindrical bulge close to the plug going into the computer? A diode? If so why?
The frayed wire is between the cylindrical object and the plug. Model AOA 150 - the old n270.
    Question 2:
If it's a diode , it seems safe to attach a wire before it , is it? The diode would make sense in lets say a wire coming from a solar panel, but from an AC adapter seems redundant.
    Thanx in advance.

Hi, I just answered your other post about the cylinder in the line.

But you'll probably find the fault in the cable is right up close to the adapter, if not insid ethe adapter itself. It may be safe to remove the cylinder from the line and re-attach a new adapter from there. You can buy the adapters at most electronics shops around the place, I prefer my local Jaycar stockist.
