    Hi folks

The fan on my A150 (which is about 15 months old) has suddenly become a lot louder. It was fine last night, but when I swtiched it on today, the fan is 4 or 5 times louder than normal. It's now louder than any laptop I've owned before :(

I've tried blowing some air into the side vent, using a Giottos Air Rocket, but that didn't solve the problem.

Does anyone know if the fan is a replaceable part?

    Thanks!

I'm pretty sure it is removeable, heat sync and all. I might still have one out of my old seashell white 150 that I pulled apart a while ago. Not sure if it was an A150 or a D150, or even if there's any difference between the two models with regards to the heat sync.

I'll dig thru my old bits box and get a photo for ya. Then you can open your AAO and see if it's the same. If it is you're welcome to it.

Thanks -- that's extremely generous of you! :)

I did a bit of Googling and found this site, which has spares for a reasonable price.

I'll take mine apart this weekend just to check if the fan needs a proper clean.

silicone spray is always handy for noisy / dirty / clogged fans, if you can squirt some up between the base of the fan, and the cylindrical part of the blades, it'll work it's way in. It's an excellent lubricator and being silicone based it doesn't conduct electricity, so no chance of a short.
