acer aspire 5551 & liteon ds4e1s

Hi i dont know if this forum covers this laptop (aspire 5551) but its all i could find

Using windows 7 home premium

I recently purchased a liteon ds4e1s bd rom drive everything works but it wil not write to dvd media but it will record to cd
i have tried different makes of media and even a replacement drive but still no go

things i have tried

using different media
swapping the drive for a new one
updating my bios
updating sata drivers
firmware updating the bluray rom
using different burning software nero 10 etc not all running at the same time.... to avoid software conflicts
i have called liteon and emailed them and have been assured the drive is compatable


has anyone come across this problem and discovered a fix or patch for the issue
