    Hi,

Could someone suggest reliable options for car chargers for the Acer Aspire 722 ? I've read some scary stories of cheap chargers frying the electronic device itself. I will be going on long road trip driving several hours a day and need to keep my laptop charged. Does Acer make an official charger for this purpose ?

Thanks - any advice is much appreciated!

I haven't heard much about official car chargers, but I've always put a small DC Inverter in my cars for such occasions. They convert the 12 volts from your cars battery to the voltage required to run small household appliances. So you wouldn't be limited to just charging your laptop.

Thanks @Swarvey for the suggestion. I looked at inverters such as this (http://www.outsidesupply.com/go-power-1 ... erter.aspx) but was told by the car manufacturer that it can potentially wreck the car's battery. Any experience/thoughts on that ?

The other option I was considering was this one with multiple output DC voltages - please let me know what you think :

Personally I've never had a problem with an Inverter "wrecking" a battery, if they're installed right and only used when the engine is running and the alternate is charging the battery there isn't any reason for them to cause a problem. A DC-Dc converter works on a similar principle in that it uses windings and circuitry to boost the 12volts from your car to higher voltage and amperage
