Acer Aspire One 0722 with sim card from ATT question

We have one of the ATT-spec Acer Aspire One 0722 netbooks, the $39-with data plan version. It's a very nice machine. It came with a SIM card installed, and a phone number associated with it. I have used it to send and receive text messages but have not figured out how to make calls with it (cell phone calls, not Skype which I will also set up). ATT customer service said it will not work as a phone on that sim card.

My question here is if anyone knows if there is a way to achieve cell calls on this sim card? Is there a third-party app that will help? or other suggestions.

You said it all in your question. $39 with "data" plan version, your provider told you it is not possible with this sim card. No other program will permit you to make phone calls. This is my point of view, I could be wrong.
