    Hey Guys,

I have a question concerning the 10.1" Aspire One model that came out a little bit ago, particularly dealing with modding it. I want to buy one, and I have plans to make a couple of modifications. First of all, I'd like to drop a faster/larger hard drive in it. I was looking at something in the realm of a 320gb drive running at 7200 rpm. Secondly, I wanted to upgrade the RAM from 1gb of DDR2 to 2gb of DDR2.

I have a couple of questions concerning this possible modification:
First of all, what is everyone's opinion on how well this will boost the performance of the machine? Is it really worth the effort?
Secondly, how badly will this mod (the larger and faster hard drive in particular) affect my battery life?

    Thanks.

The upgrade from 1GB to 2GB may not make a huge difference, depends on what you do with the machine.
The upgrade for the HDD is more noticeable. Things just happen faster when you are doing things that really require HDD access.
Battery life hit shouldn't be substantial, again, it really comes down to how often the HDD is actively seeking/writing. I think I lost around 10-15 min with the 6 cell battery on the 8.9" model, so I only got around 4h45min or so instead of the 5hr I could have gotten.
