Macles has done it again: http://macles.blogspot.com/
This is quite amazing and in great spirit considering lots of people are trying to make money off of similar apps - macles for the win.
this works great I backed up my orginal AAO, and restored onto the new one I have been setting up - works a treat FYI, I used a 20GB 2.5 HDD and USB caddy as the backup target, a 120GB HDD was the source (94GB free) the resultant 8GB took around an hour to backup
Okay so I followed these steps and got a back up of my working aspire one on a usb flash drive. I now want to restore this onto another brand new aspire that has crashed after only a few hours of use. Just get a black screen when trying to turn it on. My question is since I am not getting a page to choose the f12 option will the crashed aspire recognize the usb drive to restore the computer? Also I have already tried to update the bios and that did not work. I am trying to get this working without having to send a christmas present back to acer. Thanks
Probably not but you could try macles* emergency BIOS recovery procedure http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/08/acer-aspire-one-bios-recovery.html .
