    Hi all,

I am kinda stuck here. I have an Acer Aspire One D250-1580 that was loaned to me long term. Well I finally got a new laptop and decided to get this netbook back to the owner. However a long time ago I installed Ubuntu netbook edition and told it to use the entire drive. So that means my restore partition is gone. I went to the Acer website and tried to see if I could purchase the recovery discs but unfortunately it is not available. So how can I get Windows XP back on this netbook? I tried an XP Pro disc that is not OEM but after the preliminary install I get a hal.dll error on reboot.

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you!

Boot from a XP cd and format and partition whole disk then install.
