    Hello Folks,

My ideea is to change the single core Atom CPU with a dual core Atom 330 !
I know that the CPU is soldered on the Mobo, but with the right tools and skills, it"s possible.
Somebody knows if the pin"s layout is the same ?

Is here somebody who can do this mod ?
We cand have then an dual core acer aspire ( 4 CPU with HTT )
    Regards.
    ;)

No. It can not be one because:

    - mentioned before BIOS issue,
    - chip set needs to be compatible,
    - dual core ATOM has more soldering points as far as I can tell - may be wrong in this part...
    - voltages provided by mobo must be right,
    - dual core generates more heat - you need to have sufficient cooling system, etc.

There is much more involved but that's all I can think about now.

Someone had a plan to replace original CPU but failed in so may ways...

the new chips are totally different.

with enough skill you *MIGHT* be able to replace a n270 with an n280. you wont however be able to update to any other chips.

when the pin layout the same is, the replacing of the CPU should be no big deal for a skilled technician.

maybe the next aspire one models ( dual core ) will have a mobo with the same size as the actual one..
so that all u have to do is the relpacing the mobo and finish.
