Yeah that is what mine does too but it does it even when I am not touching it.
It seems that it does it mostly after waking up from standby, then after a few hours or even a day or so it is ok.

I emailed fido hub about it and he asked me to check my connections to make sure they are not loose, I haven't emailed back yet.

I performed this touchscreen mod yesterday and posted a few videos of the process on YouTube. I purchased my kit on ebay from the seller 'fidohub'. It took a little over a week to arrive and there was no damage to the box or interior components.

    Here are the video links:

    Part 1 (Disassembly):
    Part 2 (Hardware Installation):
Part 3 (Driver Install & Test Drive):

Text outline of the installation on my blog:
    http://www.logicalinsanity.net/?p=214

Anyways - everything went pretty well. Getting the LCD housing back on was the hardest part and what I spent the most time on. It took me several tries before I was able to tuck all of the wires securely enough so the housing would snap closed all the way (without any kind of visible seam).

After installing the drivers and configuring the touchscreen, everything worked perfectly. It works especially nice for ebook reading in the mobiPocket Reader. Rotating the screen 90 degrees CCW (ctrl+alt+left arrow) and using it in full screen view, all I need to do now is use my thumb on the screen to navigate to the next page.

Is another symptom that when it is working, you only get a few seconds of "drawing time" till it turns off/on?
Check the ground on your camera board. On my machine, the controller gets it's ground connection from the LCD backpanel via the camera board. I must have a bad ground in the original camera wiring harness. So, I added a separate ground directly to the controller and the problem went away.

No Rogi, that was not my issue. although I have seen complaints of that.
Mine was purely a waking up from standby issue, but for some reason it would continue sometimes up to 12 hours or so after waking up.
In the first 15 mins or so it would connect and disconnect probably 3-5 times.
Then it would be fine for 2 hours, disconnect again, fine for another 5 hours, disconnect again etc.
Usually about 12-15 hours after coming out of standby it was ok.
The NEVER happened after a reboot, only standby.

Anyway, after a few emails back and forth with Fidohub's support they spoke to the engineer and he suggested to make sure I had the latest bios installed.
I did have bios 3309 installed when I initially installed the touchscreen but after not being able to get it to work initially after install I reverted back to 3304 because I had read that another poster could not get this touch screen to work with 3309.
It turned out to be a driver issue but I never bothered to re-flash the bios.
I have now reinstalled bios 3309 and after a reboot and putting it into standby twice over 2 hours it does seem to be fixed.

I just wanted to pass this along to benefit anyone else thinking of trying it...

I ordered a solderless touchscreen from Hoda Tech and decided to go off the map since I am fairly experienced at such matters. Unfortunately, I tried to power the device off the extra CN11 connector. The USB hub worked fine with no troubles. But the touchscreen controller would not be recognized by any attempted OS (many linux distro and XP). I spoke with Hoda and they asked if I followed directions by using the webcam input, LOL. I only had 1 LED lit and they reported I should have 2. I redid the +5v power connection and moved it to +3.3v off SATA port pin 8 after jumping R364. Rebotoed Ubuntu and ran lsusb and finally saw the eGalax controller listed.

In summary, the Hoda touchscreen kit NEEDS 3.3v power and will only operate as a USB hub if given 5v. Just wanted to help avoid any further issues for other crazy SOBs like myself.

Ogwolf, apparently there is kind of a way around that.
You can hook the controller up as instructed and plug in your usb devices, they will work as long as they are not devices that require 5V, don't ask how I found that out :(

I emailed back and forth over my disconnecting issue and once that was fixed I decided to install my usb mouse receiver and a class 1 bluetooth dongle instead of the micro class 2 one I already had in there.
The class 2 BT adapter worked fine, it wouldn't detect my new BT adapter or my mouse receiver though so I emailed them back to ask why, .... they NEED 5V and apparently won't work on 3.3V.

He said that you can cut the power wire for that particular device and solder it directly to 5V power from the mobo.
So the touchscreen gets 3.3V but if you have a USB device that needs 5V it can have it's way too.

I haven't tried it, not sure if I will, I'm not THAT confident in my soldering skills :(

welp my regular screen just broke..(err i broke it by accident) and might do this mod. I imagine it comes with a replacement screen along with the touch panel? or is it just a touch panel that sits over your stock screen?

and will it work with windows 7 ?

    thanks

no it does not come with a replacement screen.
It is just a thin glass panel, they do sell replacement screens on ebay though.

Okay. . I installed the Easy Solderness Touch-Screen and it responds my finger/pen input. Though, when I slide up and down, it moves from side to side. When I slide from side to side, the screen moves up and down. What gives? =/

Run the calibration utility or flip the ZIF connector to the screen over.

Already flipped the ZIP connector over and the calibration won't recognize my inputs on the screen as well. . =/

Are you performing the 4 point calibration where you touch (and hold) the flashing "X" until it stops flashing ?

In Windows 7 there will be two calibration utilities. The one which EETI provides and the one in the Control Panel. I had to reboot after using the Widows Control Panel TS calibration utility, because TS was broken until after reboot.
