For the record, my Acer Aspire One (see O.P.) is still up and running. The only major change it has experienced is the transition from Linpus Linux to Fedora 10.

Granted, I had to follow several guides to make F10 fit the machine (performance wise, considering it is SSD based), but so far so good it is performing now even better than Linpus, and EVERYTHING works. I've just been lazy to make the system 'merge' the left SD card with the main storage SSD, but that ain't a problem at all since the slot works.

And to what this thread is concerned, the machine has never shown the black screen of death. No BIOS issues whatsoever. Roughly 5 months of use now.

    Thanks.
    Joe.

8 months in, anywhere between 1 and 6 hours per day usage, rattled around in a bag!
If it popped I'd buy another tomorrow :D

I bought mine from the first batch imported to Finland last summer.
It's a white 8 GB SSD model with upgraded 1.5 GB of RAM running Ubuntu 8.10.

It has never failed, BSOD'd or done anything out of the ordinary, in other words, it works like a charm.
I have the machine with me at school roughly 5 days a week and I use it a lot at home and on the road too.

After buying a A110AW with 8Gb SSD and linux I had decided to run XP. Bad choice. SSD is slowwwwwwww in XP . Pathetic.
After trying all tricks and tips in this forums to improve SSD speed, still no joy. Impossible to run XP. No way.

Then I buy a 40G Toshiba ZIF HDD on ebay. Toke the little machine apart and add also a 1GB DDR2 SO Dimm.
After some hours fighting with the ZIF socket (bad choice) I finally got it to work. Reassemble and installed XP.
Perfect. Now is acting like a computer. Next: dual boot and install Vista SP1. Ok again.
Reboot, ups.... no Aero.... Ok. -> Intel web site... newest 945 Vista drivers. There you go. Aero up and running.

Vista index 2.6. Not bad for this little guy. I'm happy now. Very happy.

    Next purchase: 9 cell battery.

    Regards
    J

Blue 150, 160gb HDD, 1Gb RAM. Now used as primary home machine 2 hours minimum daily use. Frequently left on AC power in desktop mode. No BSODs, no crashes. Initially flaky wi-fi cured by driver update. Works as intended. In fact, it's exceeded my expectations. Love it.

I first got my Aspire One on 9th September 2008.
It was working perfectly but I thought the fan was a little noisy so I got a replacement.
I got a Black Screen of Death about 3 months after I got it and have no problems so far.
I have tried XP/Vista/Se7en/Linpus/Eeebuntu. All of them work well but I'll put Linpus back on to feel a complete netbookness :D

Got mine in December just before heading out on the road for an extended work trip.

Zero black screens. 2 (count 'em) two blue screens (both were in trying to run waaaayyyy too many intensive programs at the same time...) figured out that it did NOT like running Streets 2001 and 2009 AND 2 different proprietary mapping programs at the SAME TIME! (OK, so I was making it overlift... true...)

I run it on battery power for up to 5-6 hours at a time with a USB GPS unit attached, and the wi-fi running (or not)

I have it plugged in a lot of the time, too... esp. since I have (right now) a trackball pointer, a laser printer, a dvd-read/writer and an external hd all attached right now (and also charging my mp3 player).

I have been very happy with the little beast, and my boss just wished the speakers were a bit louder so he could use it instead of the GPS handhelds for car navigation... he's shopping for usb speakers...

Unit I have: AOA 150-1447 (ZG5), blue, 6 cell, 160gb hdd XP, orig 1gb ram, I have recently upgraded it with a 1gb mem stick (out of a brand new eeePC of all things) so I have 1.5gb now. Updated to latest BIOS and updates on software.

BTW, I connect very well with my wi-fi, even in limited wi-fi areas.

I also have a silcone keyboard skin on it, and like it a lot...even if it doesn't always stay in place!

I have had mine since December, 160, 1gb, XP, 6 cell. I use mine everyday from internet, word documents, pictures, to my powerpoint presentations (It takes me a few minutes to get my presentation going cause everyone has to look the AAO over first) and it has never missed a beat. The wireless internet hooks up anywhere in a matter of seconds. It has went with me on numerous cross country trips, flying and driving, I don't baby it and it has been worth every penny. I would buy another in a heartbeat, my other laptop doesn't get much attention anymore!

Ive got the blue AAO, with windows XP, and the 160gb HD.

Not one single problem from day one. Ive had the little netbook for about 6 months now.
No noisy fan, no BSOD, nothing unusual. It works fine.
    Its my favorite travel toy.
