Acer Aspire Screen Suddenly Gone Blank

    On my husband's computer, quite suddenly.

    Laptop was plugged into the mains, so it wasn't battery. It wasn't hot either. He had switched it off earlier today and couldn't switch it back on again.

    I wonder if he has accidentally switched off the monitor - is that possible?

    He has recently (2 months ago) had a new hard drive.

    Your help, please.

    Sorry to have NOT answered sooner, Rosemary... I only just found this...

    Hopefully your husbands laptop is up and running again... but if NOT...

    Assuming your Laptop has since been disconnected from the mains...

    Will it start on BATTERY only?
    Will it start without the BATTERY, only on MAINS?
    Do you see Writing flash up on screen, SOON after switching the Laptop ON? then nothing...

    If the answers are No, No and No... or No, No, Yes...
    please turn the laptop over and read the Manufacturer, and Model off the label underneath the Laptop - such as
    HP Elitebook 6390p or
    Asus EEEPC px1011x or
    Acer Aspire One 756-2300

    We MIGHT be able to locate some 'news' about the failure from that information.
