Acer Backup Program - Other Computer?

I keep getting the popup to make the acer recovery discs. I don't have a USB burner, only cd drive.

Can I throw the HD out of my AAO into my Intel Atom PC and make the backup? It has a burner and similar hardware.

Also - what is made with these Acer recovery discs.

 

instead of taking your acer apart you could just map a network drive to the cd burner on your other computer.

 

That only works 1 way. You can send the data from the cd to the AAO, but you can't send the data to the dvd burner to burn data.

You could just download a copy of recovery disk off the internet and burn them to disk. It's the same thing.

Although I am pretty sure it will not be too long before I take apart the AAO :twisted:

The torrent won't work because I am not a registered user and can't register.

Well I shoved my hard drive into my atom itx box. It "burns" the dvd without spinning up the drive. The counter just goes up and no burning happens. So not sure what the problem was there. I found an external DVD drive I kinda made, but that didnt' work either. Same problem.

I already have an XP Home cd, but where would I get drivers and applications? I plan on swtiching to XP Pro ASAP on this machine

It works on all version of Acer Aspire One 150. It's the exact copy of recovery disk that Acer send you by mail.

I've noticed on the 3.42 gig file there aren't many seeds and its downloading slow. I'll be seeding it for a week or so so others can get it ... if anyone else wants it.
