I have "lost" the Acer desktop on my Aspire one and cannot work out how to get it back

I did alter the desktop.xml file slightly when I installed Skype to allow the icon to appear in the menu and now the dekstop does not show anything

Is there anyway of restoring the dekstop.xml file to it's orginal settings.

    Thanks

I'm not going to pretend to know how to fix that.
All I can offer you is my file... which I have not modified.
    Hopefully, this solves your problem.
    I have 2 desktop.xml files.
One is located in file:///etc/xdg/xfce4/mcs_settings/desktop.xml (1)
The other is located in file:///usr/share/apps/katepart/syntax/desktop.xml (2)
