I am finding that the Acer version of Firefox 2 does not work like Firefox 2 on other computers for some of my favorite web sites. For example, some javascript functions are not recognized and mp4 videos do not play. Will Firefox 3 fix the deficiencies in "Acer Firefox 2". Is there a smooth easy install for Firefox 3 on the Aspire One?

I have tried the above install method. Like many people, I had problems with getting Firefox to work. I did a restore and system update to have my aspire one in the "recommended configuration". I do not want to follow the directions in that link again.

If you follow them 1:1 then everything will be ok, easiest way is to simply paste the commands in the terminal.

Looking at posts to the Aspire One Forums, the Firefox upgrade is what a lot of people are trying to do to improve their Aspire One. Does anyone know how to send a comment to Acer stating that a lot people want a better browser or a more standard browser than the "Acer Firefox 2" for their Aspire One?

As macles says, following the instructions word for word works just fine. I have done a couple of the things on his blog, and they have all worked perfectly for me.

I did some reading about linux and I have a better understanding on how to install firefox 3 using macles instructions. I might try the firefox 3 install again.

Has anyone tried to install the epiphany browser? I think I will try epiphany.

I did try the midori browser. Midori is a very quick browser for the aspire one; however, Midori can not run java applets.

I now have Firefox 3 working on my Aspire One; however, I think that the browser is not the problem with my favorite web sites. My favorite web sites have javascript calling java applet methods. A good demo web site is:
    http://www.raditha.com/java/alert.php

I think my problem is Fedora 8 uses Java Icedtea and not Sun's Java.

Firefox 3 works great on the Aspire One. I used the macles instructions locates on:
    http://macles.blogspot.com/2008/07/inst ... e-one.html
Because I am a beginner, I did see some unexpected results during the install. This time I was patient and followed the instructions. The install per the instructions did work for me.

djg000111 did you end up installing epiphany? I've used it on ubuntu and it runs a lot faster then firefox. Currently looking into how to install it on linpus.

I hit a brick wall with the epiphany install on aspire one. The gecko-libs are not available for the aspire one. I did a google search for gecko-libs aspire one and it looks like all aspire one owners in the world are looking for the gecko-libs.

has any other person on this forum hit a snag with the software update (not the normal update) after installing firefox 3? because i've been trying to fix that for a day or two now, and i can't find a answer if i google it and so on, so.... my guess is that im missing the "devel" to the new firefox. does that even exist and any tips on how to get it?
