A couple of months ago, Dad bought Mum an Acer One Netbook with Linux.

One of the very annoying things with it is that whenever FireFox is started, the first tab will always be FF asking us to install a dictionary and the second will always be some kind of Acer redirected iGoogle page.

All we want is for Google (Classic) to start when FF is started.

I have installed the dictionary and reset the FF properties for start page and each time FF is restarted it reverts back to the way it was.

We are also noticing this as an example for FF warnings, whereby most I turn off then when FF restarts they all reset back to he way they were.

I am assuming this is some kind of Acer rubbish to try and force how one browses but it is becoming extremely annoying.

Either way it would appear that no FF settings are sticking at all.

Anyone got any ideas around this before I take the thing back to Comet and wrap it around some clever sales persons head?

Tried that, just reverts to the Acer page and the FF Dictionary page.
