Hi i'm new to linux but i'm having a few problems and wondered if anyone can help? Whenever i watch anything through media master it randomly freezes and the only thing i can do is hold down the on off switch and start again as no other buttons work. I can be on the internet and it will switch itself off from the net and i just get left with the desk top. Is this a Linux thing or is there something wrong with my netbook? hope someone can help in laymans terms.

    Andy

I don't know if this will help you, but my netbook kept freezing too while I was playing the LLK game. I tried updating via the Live Update thing, and it blew Messenger out of the water for me. Acer's only offering was that I should create a Recovery USB from the Recovery DVD to reinstate the factory settings.
Since I hadn't changed any of the factory settings (other than via their clearly inadequate Live Update) - and since this is Linux, not MicroSoft - I was less than impressed, particularly as neither my work nor my home PC was able to create the Recovery USB. Moreover, Acer wanted to charge me nearly £70 if they had to reset it for me.
Finally, since it's less than a year old, I took it back to the shop I bought it from and they've sent it back to Acer for repair - at no charge to me because it's within the guarantee period. Thank heavens for John Lewis!
If your Acer is less than a year old, I suggest you do the same.
