I've read the post and I guess we can't connect through the """"15 Pin High Density D-Shell (VGA)"""" to a regular TV. I guess because of the different scan rates etc. I'm not interested in spending a large sum of money for equipment that would do this but in general just cables to do the job. So is this correct that we can't do this and if not what would we use the VGA connector for just to connect to another pc monitor ?

    Thank you very much.

I use my AA1 with TV quite often. Here is my setup:

    1. I purchased a VGA to DVI adapter cable (don't recall where I got it, but Google should help find this).

    2. I purchased 3.5 mm stereo audio patch cable from the same source.

    3. I added 1360x768 mode video to /etc/X11/xorg.conf as discussed elsewhere on this forum.

    4. I connected cables #1 and #2 between the AA1 and my 32" Sharp Aquos.

Result: Turn on TV and AA1, press <Fn><F5>, enjoy!

How well this will work for you depends on what inputs you have on you TV receiver: component, composite, S-video DVI, HDMI, or ???. Once you decide which input you want to use, just search on Google to see if an adapter cable is available.

well... dvi-i is the same thing as vga. A VGA to DVI-D (digital) won't be possible without a converter

A vga to svideo or composite cable well work if you know that you know how to lower the resolution of the screen.

You could also get a cheap usb->dvi adapter and turn it into an hdmi port.
