acer travelmate 4501Lmi display problem

Hi, After running my acer travelmate 4501LMi for only few minutes, colour dashes start to appear on the screen. These eventually cover the screen and makes visibilty impossible. The applications work fine, but the screen is covered with colour lines and dashes. I have connected an external monitor to the laptop, but this same thing happen.
