Try as I might, no-one seems to know about this. It is on Acer website, but unable to work out how to make it work under Linux, or at least Acers version of it. Live in UK so would appreciate any clues. Brother gave it to me last Christmas and would like to use it before the coming one! Works wonderfully on Windows and Mac OS x. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

What exactly is it doing (or not doing) under Linux?
DVD drives should be plug 'n play.

It does nothing. I plug it in, and as the Acer insructions say, it should run. All that happens is that a green light comes on when powered up, and that is it. I don;t know if I am meant to find a driver for it, or somehow mount it. I can find diddlesquat on the Acer site, and nothing on the internet. Could be that I should have bought the windows version! Any clues though would be very gratefully received.

you might have to download a cd/dvd burner application from the repository
go to system - add/remove software then type in the search CD/DVD burning application or something along those lines
choose which application is better for your set up i think Brasero looks good download that and burn your dvds through that
    tell me how it goes.

ps just incase you havent updated your repository's go into terminal and type

    sudo yum install fedora-release

this will give you updated repository applications that work better fewer dependency problems
sorry not best at explaining as you can tell if anything doesnt make sense then tell me andi'll try go through it better,

Sorry, had to change user name as forgot password! Tried to do this, but would not accept BRASERO as it could not resolve dependencies. The fedora is up to date, and have had difficulties in trying to load GNOME desktop. Will do nothing with this either. Maybe should have bought the windows version which would have made life much easier. I seem to merely paddle around in circles trying to make this work. Also cannot make a Canon MP 190 Pixma work at all; can get as far as the gutenscript, but these drivers do not support a 190, but a 150 or 500.
