It's not a hoax. The problem is because we have different clock generator. You'll need the correct pll in order for setfsb to work. I've already sent a request the pll clock generator support for AAO.

do you know where the pll is located? I can rip apart my machine to check it out.
(btw, my dad used to be an engineer of clock generators, but he forgot now, after 5 years of not doing anything)

You don't have to rip anything apart. I already know all of the clock generators used on the AAO.
    -SLG8SP513v
    or
    -WPCE775LA0DG
    or
    -ICS9LPRS365

So far only AAO with SLG8SP513v clock generator will work.

I want to overclock so I can play 5-10Mb/s 1080P Hi-Def video on my AAO.

Get Kmplayer and coreavc. Set coreavc as the external codec. After that, you'll be guarenteed to play 5Mb/s+ h.264 720P video or 3-5Mb/s+ 1080P videos.

I can play BDrip from the internet with my AAO's cpu underclocked at 800mhz. I just need the cpu to run at 2.0ghz to play "almost Blueray quality" videos.

I don't know. I haven't done any optimization for my windows XP. Youtube 720P videos just magically play perfectly on my netbook.

I had to rip my machine apart, since I am sending it to acer, I took out the hard drive and backed it up, and apparently I saw my clock generator, it is the SLG8SP513V

    Damn you, so lucky.

I have the other clock generator which isn't supported by setfsb.

Hm... that's exactly what I'm getting as well. I thought I had the other PLL generator.

Someone on this thread said they got it working, but I don't know how he got it working.

it's probably just a hoax, like I previously mentioned (as in he was the hoax, not overclocking)

Theoritically... AAO is overclockable because the PLL clock generator match.
The only problem is it clock generator script in SetFSB was written for a samsung laptop rather than the acer aspire one thus it's not fully compatible with AAO.
