    Thanks, but it's not necessary anymore. If you delete the file, a new one is automatically created.

    Just a guess, but if you got an icon for firefox, then looked where the xml document is looking for the icon of the Browser, you could probably either change the name of the Firefox icon to be the one linked to, or change the link to wherever you put the firefox icon.

    I've changed mine to the original icon :)...

    Here's the How To:
    Open a terminal... by now you should know how to do this much!
    gain root access...
    to do this type "su" press enter, then type your password and hit enter
    open the directory that contains the linpus-web.desktop file (/usr/share/applications/)...
    to do this you type "cd /usr/share/applications/" then hit enter.
    use the terminal to open the file linpus-web.desktop
    to do this type "mousepad linpus-web.desktop" then hit enter.

    It should open up the file in a text editor...
    -Don't mind the Warning- we know what we're doing!

    Scroll down until you find the line:
    Icon=acs_firefox.png

    Change it to
    Icon=firefox.png

    I also changed the Name and GenericName to Firefox in order to change the icon name while I was in there.

    Save, close, then reboot in order to see the changes!

    ** Note: You can NOT do this by simply going to your Documents and searching/opening and then editing the file linpus-web.desktop... it will not let you save changes because it requires ROOT access! Using the terminal to gain root access and then opening/editing it w/ mousepad is the best way in my opinion. This process was very simple because the Firefox icon already existed in the same folder as the current web browser icon.... If you wanted to change other icons, you would use a similar method, but if the icon you wanted to use wasn't already in the correct directory, you would have to download/save your icon to "/usr/share/pixmaps/ " file location.

    Hurray, one icon down... many more to go!
    Let me know if this helps any of you... I'm new to this stuff, so if someone knows a better way, let me know!

    I went about changing the icon a different way. I found it's stored in the pixmaps folder, so I went in there, replaced the Internet Browser icon with FF icon, renamed the FF icon to be the same as the Internet Browser icon (and resized it to 90x90), and it worked! No need to reboot, just move your mouse over the icon and it should change.

    You do need root access to the pixmaps folder to do this of course.

    Hello all ! thanks for the hints. It works fine. I followed the guidelines with no problem.

    However the skype icom is on top of other ones and when I try to move it, another one takes its place. How can I get my icons organized and not piling up ?

    Thanks for this, from a noob point of view can I add that I typed "/home/user/.config/xfce4/desktop/group-app.xml" into the writer application file open dialog box, I made the change and then saved the file (as text).

    Thanks again.
